Croatia is a funny country. I had never been to a place where it is highly recommended to eat a kilo of meat as often as possible. Almost every restaurant had a pig or lamb rotating on a spit, in the front yard. My mom and I found Croatians to be some of the friendliest people and if you attempted to say any words in the language they would normally assume we were locals (weird). Not many people attempt it because it is one of the harder Slovak languages. But that is what got us into crowded restaurants where they were turning away other tourists. When we went, Croatia still wasn’t a big travel destination but those who were there just wanted to party. They would trash the streets and by the morning it would be spotless again. Don't be that guy... Croatians do drink a lot. Beer for breakfast is not frowned upon to start your morning, but they are very composed about it.
The waters are crystal clear and not as full of boats as the Italian Mediterranean is. At the docks, you can book day boat tours that go through some of the islands and lunch is fresh fish. Ahh to die for! Transportation is AWESOME! I suggest bus travel. You can get them from anywhere even on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. Tickets are not needed beforehand. Buy them on the bus itself or book ahead of time if you want to secure a specific bus. There are so many different bus companies, so you shouldn't worry. A really no stress country to travel in.
Looking to avoid this crowd we chose to take a boat trip through the islands around this area. We were served fish with all kinds of veggies…
