Dubrovnik, Croatia

As always I recommend walking around the city in the early mornings, especially if you are trying to avoid the crowds. And there are mobs here! But there are so many beautiful little corridors connecting large piazzas with big farmers markets in them. (see where to eat for a recommendation on what to by at the mark). A great activity to do is to walk the wall, so you can see into the city. We chose not to do this. There were way too many people to enjoy it, so we spent our time just wandering around. In reality, this wasn’t our favorite location in Croatia, not saying it is a bad place, but there were a lot of tourists. The natives were nice but not as friendly as others we met on our trip from the south to the north.

How to get there:

It is extremely easy to get from the airport to the city. There are buses that run frequently but tend to be packed so you might want to book ahead of time if you are in a hurry.

Where to stay:

We stayed in a lovely little Airbnb located in the center of the walled city. I recommend looking into Airbnb if you are traveling with someone because it is the cheaper way to stay in this very touristy place.

Where to go to get away from the mobs:

Just outside the walled city, there is a ‘beach’ where many Croatians go to get away from the hustle bustle. It is a perfect little place to work on your tan or have a swim without ending up all sandy as it is a big slab of rock with a swim letter. You can watch people walking along the top of the city wall or watch the sunset.

Where to eat:

SEAFOOD! Oh man. So good. I don’t have any exact places to recommend, but you should look for these. If you walk away from the big piazzas and into the side passageways, there will be small restaurants. The tables will most likely be outside in the small walkway but because not many people pass in this area it works and you'll have an interesting experience.

If you have the chance to go to the markets the salts are fantastic. They have different flavors and are presented really well, and fairly cheap.
